2009 Flow Perfusion (Account)

The "Nagare Kanjo" ceremony, a summer tradition in Nobeoka City that has been passed down since the Edo period, was held as usual on August 18th, organized by the Nobeoka City Buddhist Association. In Nobeoka City, known as a "water town," it is said to have originally begun as a way to commemorate the souls of victims of floods and water-related accidents.

The lantern floating ceremony began around 6:30 PM as the sun set, and memorial fireworks were launched around 8:00 PM. The gentle flow of the Gokase River seemed to make the farewell to the deceased peaceful.
