Prince Ice World 2023-2024 A NEW PROGRESS - Shiga Performance Report
Prince Ice World is Japan's longest running ice show, with a history dating back to 1978, featuring the powerful group dances of the over 20-member Prince Ice World team and the unique performances of top skaters from Japan and abroad. This year's Shiga performance will feature world-class guest skaters such as Shizuka Arakawa, gold medalist at the Torino Olympics, and Masama Uno, world champion. The show also featured a singing collaboration stage by "LE VELVETS", a vocal group active in a variety of genres centering on classical music (appearing only on the 24th and 25th), and other performances with a high degree of freedom different from the competition, making it a brilliant entertainment ice show.
The Kinoshita Kansei Ice Arena (Shiga Prefectural Ice Arena) opened in 2000 as a facility where ice sports can be enjoyed throughout the year, and its main rink is of international standard where various competitions such as ice hockey are held. The main rink is of international standard, where various competitions such as ice hockey are held. Normally, various classes are held for children and adults, but for these three days, the atmosphere was especially glamorous.
On the final day, Shiga Prefecture Governor Daizo Mikazuki took the stage and delivered a speech.
We are delighted that Japan's premier ice show will be held in Shiga Prefecture for the first time in six years. To all the fans who are coming from all over the world, welcome to Shiga!
The appeal of sports is not only "playing" but also "watching" and "supporting", and through such diverse involvement, everyone can enrich their hearts and minds. We hope that you will enjoy to your heart's content the spectacular performances of skaters and their music, and that you will also experience the charms of our prefecture, such as Lake Biwa, its rich nature, and its historic townscape, and create wonderful memories.
In conclusion, we would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts in making this event possible, and we sincerely wish for the success of the Shiga performance. (Excerpt from the day's pamphlet)

The name of the group is derived from the word "Velvet," a soft, fine, smooth fabric, and was given by music critic Reiko Yukawa. All members are over 180 cm tall, and the vocal group consists of tenors and baritones who all graduated from the vocal department of a music college.
Based on classical music, she freely expresses various genres of songs from rock, pop, jazz, and Japanese folk songs, creating her own unique world.
While performing concerts at Orchard Hall and other venues across Japan and dinner shows at various hotels, the group also sings the national anthem at sports events, makes its CD debut and performs overseas, and each member performs in musicals.
Tatsuhiko Saga resumed his activities after recuperating from a stroke on the September 2022 broadcast of "Tetsuko's Room. The final performance of the nationwide "Eternal" tour, which served as Tatsuhiko Saga's return concert, was recorded. Also, celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2023, the first best album "LE VELVETS 15th Anniversary THE BEST ~ROMANTiCA~" will be released on October 18.
This will be his first appearance in a figure skating show at the Prince Ice World performance.
For the first song, they sang "ROMANTiCA ~Prayer of Love~," an original song used as the commercial song for the Prince Ice World 2023-2024 Shiga show. Then, the audience was mesmerized and excited by the wonderful collaboration of live singing and figure skating show with professional figure skaters Akiko Suzuki and Detective Tanaka.
