Comet Neo-Wise, discovered in March 2020, was at its best in mid-July, but it was hard to observe it in the middle of the rainy season. However, it is said to be more than 5,000 years before it next approaches the sun, so it was a valuable experience for me.

And before I left, I realized that I was so engrossed in the comet that the Milky Way was rising behind me, pouring into the city of Nobeoka.

The bright star in the center left corner of the photo is Jupiter. The chimneys of Asahi Kasei can be seen in the light of the city in the lower right.
